Jonathan Davies is the founder and director of TEFL Toulouse. He grew up in the 70’s in Exeter in south west England, in the 80s he DJ’d in rock clubs, then went to London to work in a record shop then survived 6 months as a cycle courier. Aged 22 he got serious and did a degree in French and Spanish. In the 90’s he did a postgraduate qualification to become a TEFL teacher in UK schools, but missed the southern European way of life, and ended up teaching TESOL in France and Spain. He began to train new TEFL teachers in 2003 in Barcelona. He opened TEFL Toulouse in July 2009, and is still very involved in the classroom of every one of our TESOL courses in Toulouse.
Jonathan has over 25 years of experience teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in France, Spain and the UK. He first fell in love with Toulouse during his 6 months as an exchange student in 1991, so he was thrilled to come back 18 years later to offer the only externally accredited 4 week TEFL Certificate course in south west France.
Fed up with paperwork and discipline problems in UK schoolteaching, Jonathan decided to move to southern Europe to teach English, and began to give seminars about “classroom management for young learners” to inexperienced TEFL teachers during his time teaching at the British Council in Barcelona.
In the early 2000’s Jonathan decided to take a break from teaching English for a few years, and became a tour director for American high school students, taking groups of 50 or more people around France and Spain, so he knows these two countries inside out and can give endless advice on places to do and things to do once you are based in Toulouse!
Jonathan is very enthusiastic about road cycling, music, food, coffee, wine and restaurants. He is a great fan of Toulouse and the surrounding regions. Who better to welcome you to La Ville Rose!
